Organised by Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, the event attracted over 200 guests eager to find out the progress being made at Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset and how the company’s proposals for the construction and operation of the new Suffolk station were developing.

Paul Briddon, Suffolk Chamber’s vice president, said: “it’s clear that Hinkley Point C not only provides the model for Sizewell C, the experience of business there in combining together to pitch for contracts such as catering is of particular use for Suffolk companies looking to contribute to both the building and working stages of this exciting project.

“Jim’s presentation was very useful in showing the current skills and jobs uplift provided by Hinkley Point C’s construction as well as the options the company is consulting on in terms of moving materials on and off the Sizewell site during its build phase.”

Jim Crawford, Sizewell C project development director, said: “It was great to meet so many local businesses and to talk about how they can be part of Sizewell C.”

Jim also answered a number of questions from the audience ranging from the need to work collaboratively with the local tourist sector to how businesses can best register an interest in working on the Sizewell C project.
