A message from Jim Crawford, Sizewell C Project Director

Sizewell C is a significant opportunity to give the UK necessary, affordable, safe, low-carbon electricity at a lower price and we are working hard to make sure the benefits are far reaching for the East of England.

I know the nuclear industry makes a positive impact on this region- I was station director at Sizewell B for a number of years.  Nuclear already provides a wide range of career options, in well -paid , long term roles, and our plans to develop first Sizewell C, and then Bradwell B in Essex, add even more potential to create significant business, skills and job opportunities for the region – just as the Hinkley point C power station is doing for the South West.

Sizewell will be 20% cheaper to build than Hinkley Point C and competitive with alternate low carbon projects. The key to reducing the construction cost is replication, using approved technology, and with having the grid system already in place for the new station.

Our public consultation on Sizewell C is long established. I would like to thank the hundreds of people, local representatives and organisations who responded to our latest formal round of consultation, at Stage 2. Your feedback helps to shape our proposals.

We are now busy working on the proposals we will present to you at stage 3. This is a lengthy and detailed exercise and we will provide plenty of advance notice to communities in East Suffolk prior to the start of this our final formal stage of public consultation.

We look forward to working with the community over the months ahead as we prepare for the next stage of public consultation on Sizewell C.
