Sizewell C puts Ipswich at the centre of its plans

Leaders from Ipswich businesses, schools and a range of different community organisations came together on Friday 8 April at Chef’s Whites restaurant at Suffolk New College to hear the latest news on Sizewell C.

The keynote speaker was Tom Hunt MP, who stated ‘when I hear Sizewell C, I hear jobs for Ipswich’.

Attendees were treated to a wonderful breakfast cooked and served up by the college’s catering students and learnt more about the strategic partnership between the college and the Sizewell C Project.

Businesses had the opportunity to hear from Steve Carroll, Head of Sizewell C supply chain development, who explained the scale of the opportunity from Sizewell C and energy projects in Suffolk and how to access more information about the supply chain.

Tom McGarry, Head of Regional External Affairs for Sizewell C, said ‘our plans have been in development for a decade and we are now ready to deliver them. Sizewell C will create jobs, investment in skills and contracts for the County Town. We will work in partnership with the college, the council and Ipswich’s MP to make sure the pathways to work and skills will be accessible to all, particularly for residents in need. This is a huge chance for the Town to engage with the major investments happening up and down the East Anglian coast – we must not let it pass.’
