Following last night’s (07/07/2022) announcement regarding the delay to the decision on the DCO for Sizewell C, please see below the official statement from Tom McGarry, Head of Regional External Affairs and Development at Sizewell C.
Our work continues unabated as this delay does not affect our progress in growing and readying the local and regional supply chain for this project. We look forward with anticipation to the 20th of July and the decision from the department for business, energy and industrial strategy.

Project update from Sizewell C
As you may have heard yesterday, Paul Scully MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, announced a new deadline for the planning decision on Sizewell C.

The key part reads: “I have decided to set a new deadline of no later than 20 July 2022 for deciding this application. This is to ensure there is sufficient time to allow the Secretary of State to consider the proposal. The decision to set the new deadline for this application is without prejudice to the decision on whether to grant or refuse development consent.”
In the meantime, we carry on with archaeological and ecological surveys, and work with stakeholders in central and local government, the supply chain, colleges and community groups to maximise the benefits of the project for Suffolk and the East of England.
